RV camping takes you to new places, where the everyday becomes extraordinary, and even meals become an adventure. The aroma of food cooking over a crackling fire, shared laughs around the campfire, and the satisfaction of creating a delicious meal in the great outdoors – it all adds up to unforgettable moments.
Today, we're going to unlock the culinary magic of campfire cooking with detailed recipes of the ten RV camping dishes we introduced in our previous blog post. Let's dive in!
1. Hobo Packs
This all-in-one feast is perfect for those nights when you want a hearty meal with minimal cleanup.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb chicken or beef, cubed
- 4 cups of assorted vegetables, chopped (e.g., potatoes, carrots, bell peppers)
- Your choice of spices - we recommend checking out Trapper Gord.
- 4 sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil
Instructions:
- Divide the meat and vegetables equally onto the center of each foil sheet.
- Sprinkle your chosen spices over the ingredients.
- Fold up the sides of the foil to create a sealed pouch.
- Place the packs directly on the campfire coals and cook for approximately 20-30 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender.

2. Skewered Kebabs
Kebabs are a campfire classic – easy to make and customizable to everyone's tastes.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb of your chosen protein (e.g., chicken, beef, tofu), cut into cubes
- 2 bell peppers, cut into squares
- 1 large red onion, cut into squares
- 1 zucchini, sliced
- Your choice of marinade
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions:
- Marinate your chosen protein in your favorite marinade for at least 30 minutes. This can be prepped prior to your trip in a sealed container for a more intense marinade.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning.
- Thread the protein and vegetables onto the skewers, alternating as desired.
- Grill over the campfire, turning frequently, for 10-15 minutes, or until the protein is fully cooked.

3. Pre-made Burgers
These pre-made burgers made with our perfect blend of seasoning are easy to transport and are always a hit at the campsite.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 burger buns
- Desired burger toppings (e.g., cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup)
Our Seasoning Blend:
- 1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tps onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions:
- Mix ground beef and seasonings in a bowl.
- Form into four equal-sized patties and freeze individually wrapped.
- At the campsite, thaw the burgers and cook on a grill grate over the campfire for about 5 minutes each side, or until the desired doneness.
- Serve on buns with your favorite toppings.
4. Stuffed Bell Peppers
A meal in a bell pepper? Yes, please! These stuffed peppers are a tasty and fun meal.
Ingredients:
- 4 bell peppers
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey, cooked
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- Your choice of spices
- 4 sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil
Instructions:
- Slice off the tops of the peppers and remove the seeds.
- Mix cooked rice, cooked ground meat, shredded cheese, and your choice of spices in a bowl.
- Stuff the peppers with the rice mixture.
- Wrap each pepper individually in foil.
- Cook in the embers of the campfire for about 30-40 minutes, or until the peppers are tender.

5. Campfire Pizza
Who said pizza isn’t camp food? With some pre-made dough, you can create a scrumptious pizza over your campfire.
Ingredients:
- Pre-made pizza dough rounds
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Your favorite pizza toppings
- Cornmeal or flour, for dusting
Our simple pizza sauce:
- 1 can tomato sauce (15oz)
- 1 can tomato paste (6oz)
- 1 1/2 tbs ground oregano
- 2 cloves of chopped or minced garlic (or sub 2 tsp dried minced garlic if you don't have fresh)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp olive oil (sub water if you would like it oil-free)
Instructions:
- To prep the sauce, first mix the tomato sauce and paste together in a bowl until you have a smooth texture. Then stir in the remaining ingrediants to complete.
- When ready to serve, roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface.
- Place the rolled-out dough onto a cast-iron skillet dusted with cornmeal.
- Spread a layer of pizza sauce, followed by shredded cheese and your chosen toppings.
- Cook on a campfire grill grate, rotating periodically for even cooking. Cook until the crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Corn on the Cob
Nothing says summer like corn on the cob, especially when it's cooked over an open flame.
Ingredients:
- 4 ears of corn, husks on
- Butter, salt, and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Soak the corn in water for about 20 minutes before your trip.
- Place the corn directly onto the campfire grill grate.
- Cook for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the corn is tender and the husks are charred.
- Let the corn cool slightly before pulling back the husks and silks.
- Season with butter, salt, and pepper as desired.

7. Bannock Bread
This simple bread cooked on a stick is a camping tradition that's fun to make and eat.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- About 3/4 cup water
- Long, sturdy sticks
Instructions:
- At home, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a bag or container.
- At the campsite, slowly add water and knead until you have a dough that's not too sticky.
- Divide the dough and wrap each portion around the end of a stick.
- Hold the wrapped sticks over the fire, rotating frequently, for about 10-15 minutes, until the bread is golden and cooked through.

8. Pre-marinated Meats
Pre-marinating your meats ensures you'll have flavorful and tender proteins ready to cook on your campfire. This simple prep is fairly self explanitory, but also a must-have for any camping trip!
Ingredients:
- Your favorite meats (any meat will work - steak, chicken, pork chops, etc.)
Our Universal Meat Marinade
- 3 tbs low sodium soy-sauce
- 1 serrano chile
- 3 cloves of fresh garlic minced
- 1 1/2 tbsp dark brown sugar
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tbsp grated ginger
Instructions:
- At home, mix together all of the ingrediates from our marinade. Add your chosen meats, ensuring to completely engulf them completely.
- Leave the marinating meats in a sealed container or a zip-top bag and let them absorb the flavors during your drive out to the campsite (or longer, as desired).
- At the campsite, cook the meats on a grill grate over the campfire until they're done to your liking.

9. Campfire Nachos
This cheesy, crowd-pleasing dish is easy to make on a campfire.
Ingredients:
- 1 bag of tortilla chips
- 1 can of pre-cooked beans or seasoned meat
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- Desired nacho toppings (e.g., salsa, jalapenos, sour cream)
Instructions:
- In a cast-iron skillet, layer tortilla chips, beans or meat, and cheese.
- Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil.
- Place the skillet over your campfire and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Add your favorite nacho toppings and serve directly from the skillet.

10. Foil-Wrapped Baked Apples
End your day with a sweet treat. These baked apples are simple to make and oh-so-delicious.
Ingredients:
- 4 apples
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 tsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 4 sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil
Instructions:
- Core the apples, being careful not to cut through the bottom.
- Fill each apple with a tablespoon of butter, a teaspoon of brown sugar, and half a teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Wrap each apple individually in foil.
- Place the wrapped apples into the embers of your campfire, avoiding direct flames. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
